In Search of Distraction
I go through phases where I want to lose myself in something. Love or books or writing or a video game. I don’t know who to love, but I’m loving the book Kite Runner. I’m starting to get into writing again, and the experience of writing at dusk while listening to creepy atmospheric soundtracks. The video games that tempt me are Everquest, WarCraft, Silent Hill, or Might and Magic. I lean towards Might and Magic because I can play it alone. I’m so shy that even playing a multi-person role playing game, especially one with Massive in the acronym like MMORPG, makes be afraid. Should I really start up any of these games, though? I am the personality type that will become obsessed, that will forget about work and relationships so that I won’t be distracted from the game, and every minute of gameplay will be tainted with guilt because I know the truth of it: I am wasting my time.
Ah screw it, where's the CD.

For me, it's the tv shows I can download on itunes. Living in Japan, I can't understand tv, so I cured myself of my watching habit. But then technology improved and brought the drug right to my desktop. Oh crap. AND, it's so easy to get lost for hours because if I get hooked in a show, I don't have to wait a week for the next episode, I can just push "buy", wait a moment, and then get right back in. Terrible terrible terrible.
Oh yes, my current addictions are "30 Days", "Weeds" and "Desperate Housewives." 30 Day actually makes me feel like a better person for watching, but the others, well.... not so much.
Of course, I LOVE "The Office", but it's off season and they haven't posted any new episodes for a while. (Not that I don't check everyday.)
On a strange sidenote, the verification code for this comment speels out "dorbmpm". For some reason, that makes me giggle. My brain made the assosiation with "dorky doberman" and that brought all sorts of visuals.
Oh yes, tv...more addictive than meth. I purposefully did not have my cable hooked up, only used high speed cable internet. I had a tv set up for DVD's only. Then one days for fun I plugged the cable into the TV and discovered I had cable tv all along (maybe because of the highspeed internet?) That first day I watched 3 hours of bullriding on OLN. "Wife Swap" also sucks me in. Never heard of 30 Days: it's a reality show of people thrown out of their element? Sounds like the concept of Wife Swap. I mostly watch Netflix DVD shows like "Six Feet Under", "Dead Like Me". I'm almost afraid to start "The Soprano's" or "Arrested Development"; I probably wouldn't resurface for days.
Word verification "kkievlg" Large Kitten Kiev?
